Kan
In 2009, four well-known musicians who had worked together before - one from Scotland, one from Northern Ireland and two from Yorkshire, England - decided that the time had come to combine their great experiences and start a different adventure. Skilled improvisers and great innovators, they set up the Kan project, which became the canvas on which they could each imprint their own inventiveness, the space in which new ideas and new sounds could flourish.
Just long enough to oil the wheels, along comes ‘Sleeper’, the debut album from 2012, whose songs, inspired by Irish and Scottish musical traditions, are also influenced by Breton, Asturian and jazz music, reflecting the various musical souls that make up the band. The result is something surprisingly homogenous and compelling, which is perfected in the years to come, garnering increasing acclaim and esteem from the public.
After parting their ways for a while, ten years after their last concert, Kan's return is an exciting proposal, perfectly fitting for opening up the main stage at Montelago 2025.
